2015 Pebble Beach: Lexus upgrades new GS with 311hp 3.5-liter V6

The all-new Lexus GS that was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 13 in the US featured an enhanced engine for the GS350.

The new GS has undergone its first significant update since the debut of its current model. The redesigned exterior centers on the front end that comes with Bi-LED headlights. Lexus has added more stylishness to its interior as well.

The new GS200t comes equipped with a direct-injected 2.0-liter inline gasoline turbo engine. This unit is a downsized version of the engine introduced on the all-new NX .

As for the GS350, the engine has been upgraded to a direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. Its maximum output has been enhanced by 5hp to 311hp and the maximum torque by 0.4kgm to 38.7kgm from the previous model (306hp/38.3kgm). The engine is combined to an 8-speed automatic transmission system.

In addition to its FR system, Lexus has established an AWD option as well. The AWD provides a normal 30/70 (front/rear) torque split, which can be altered to as much as 50/50 depending on driving conditions.
