On July 8, Honda Cars India Limited unveiled the new Jazz (Fit in Japan).
The new Jazz is the 3rd generation model. Equipped with a diesel engine especially designed for the Indian market, its fuel efficiency is a major selling point.
The diesel engine is a 1.5L in-line 4-cylinder turbo i-DTEC introduced by Earth Dreams Technology. It gets 100ps/3600rpm and has a maximum torque of 20.4kgm/1750rpm.
The transmission is a newly developed 6-speed manual. In India, it gets 27.3km/liter, which Honda says puts it at the top of its class.
There is also a gasoline engine version. It has a 1.2L i-VTEC engine and gets 90ps/6000rpm with 11.2kgm/4800rpm torque. Honda says the CVT version gets 19km/L.
