Toyota Supra, which was discontinued in 2002

Toyota trademarks “S-FR” for what could be the next Supra

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office official website, Toyota Motor Corporation registered the trademark name “S-FR” on May 28.

So what does this S-FR refer to? Toyota’s FR sports car, the 86 is sold as the Scion FR-S in the US. Although these names can be confusing, just like the 86, this S-FR could very well be Toyota’s newest sports car.

Moreover, overseas media is reporting that this S-FR is the name for the next Supra. There are also reports of Toyota launching the next Supra in 2017.

For the moment, all we know is that the name S-FR will be used for an automobile and structural parts. Although Toyota has used the name Supra in the past, the next-generation model could be renamed the S-FR.
