On April 20, Mazda North American Operations announced their US prices for the all-new MX-5 Miata (Roadster).
The new MX-5 for the US market will not feature the 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine equipped on the Japanese Roadster, which generates 131ps of maximum output and 15.3kgm of maximum torque.
Instead, it will come loaded with a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine. This 2.0-liter system offers an additional 24ps of maximum output (at 155hp) and 5.2kgm of maximum torque (at 20.5kgm) compared to its Japanese counterpart.
The 2016 MX-5 lineup will consist of three trims, which includes the Sport, Club, and Grand Touring, as well as the Launch Edition limited to 1,000 units. The price for the basic Sport trim is 24,915 USD (approx. 2.95 million yen).
The new Roadster or the Japanese version of the MX-5 is priced from 2,494,800 yen. The difference between the 2.0-liter unit on the MX-5 and the 1.5-liter system on the Roadster is reflected in the prices.
