2015 Shanghai Motor Show: Infiniti premieres Q80 in China, hybrid that outputs 550hp

Infiniti, Nissan’s overseas luxury car brand, premiered the Q80 Inspiration in China at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show on April 20.

The Q80 Inspiration had its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in the autumn of 2014. Aiming to expand its product lineup, Inifiniti proposed a new flagship model. Infiniti refers to this large four-door coupe as a ‘fastback sedan’.

Its wheelbase is 3103mm, and its overall length, width and height are 5052mm, 2027mm and 1350mm, respectively. It pursues a dynamic, elegant design. It is outfitted with 22-inch aluminum wheels. The cabin features four independent seats. The interior offers the highest luxury with materials like carbon fiber and aluminum.

The Q80 Inspiration has a hybrid powertrain. It is mounted with the newly-developed three-liter twin turbo V6 engine. This is the same engine mounted to Infiniti’s production cars in the last two years. The total output of the engine and motors is 550hp. The drive system can be switched from 2WD (FR) to 4WD. As for the environmental performance, its fuel efficiency in European combined fuel economy mode is 18.2km/l, and its carbon emission is 129g/km.

The Q80 Inspiration is making its Chinese debut at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. Senior Vice President Shiro Nakamura, who also oversees the design department, said, “Infiniti is a brand that puts importance on designs and desires.”
