Toyota made the China debut of its new Alphard at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show on April 20 in China.
The new Alphard was unveiled in Japan on January 26. It then made its overseas debut on March 23 at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show in Thailand.
Its second appearance overseas after the Bangkok Motor Show was here at the Shanghai Motor Show, where it was displayed as a sample.
The model displayed in Shanghai was the luxury grade Executive Lounge 3.5L V6 version. It was similar to the Japanese version except with the steering wheel on the right side. One striking difference was its aero-style 18-inch aluminum wheels.
Currently, the model on sale in China is the previous model, which is sold by Guangqi Toyota, a Chinese joint venture between Toyota and the GAC Group. At present, plans have not been made to introduce the new model in China. The previous model is available for 7,800 RMB (about 12,000,000 yen). The high price is due to tariffs.
