The pickup truck is a type of passenger vehicle you rarely see in Japan, but here in Thailand where taxes are low, it’s a common sight on the city streets where quite a few people use it in their daily lives.
Various Japanese makers produce pickup trucks for Thailand. This is not just to meet demand. Thailand is a production base for pickups for export to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and for some makers, Europe and Latin America.
Among these Japanese pickup makers in Thailand, Mitsubishi gave its Triton a full model change in November of last year. Following the introduction of a double cab in November, January saw the addition of a club cab and single cab. Although not sold in Japan, it is produced in Thailand and exported to around 150 countries all over the world.
For the first time at its booth at the 2015 Bangkok Motor Show, Mitsubishi presents the entire Triton series so that visitors can compare the different types.
The catchphrase is “The Ultimate Sport Utility Truck.” The engine options are a 2351cc gasoline engine or two different types of diesel engines with 2477cc and 2442cc respectively.
