Honda Motor Company unveiled the production model of their all-new Honda Civic Type R at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show. According to Honda, it features the most powerful specs in the history of their Type R.
The new Type R comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission system and a direct-injected 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder VTEC gasoline turbo engine that generates 310ps/6,500rpm of maximum output and 40.8kgm/2,500rpm of maximum torque. It produces speeds of up to 270km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds.
On the same day, Honda also announced that their new Civic Type R set a time of 7 min 50.63 sec around the track at Nurburgring, the fastest lap time ever for a FWD production car. It is claimed to be the top FWD hatchback as it annihilated the previous record set last May by the Renaultsport Megane RS 275 Trophy-R with a time of 7 min 54.36 sec.
