During the 2015 Geneva Motor Show held in Switzerland on March 3, Mazda announced details regarding the European model of the new MX-5 (Japanese name: Roadster).
The details for the Japanese and North American models of new MX-5 have already been announced before. The Japanese model features the SKYACTIV-G 1.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine. It has a maximum output of 131ps, and a maximum torque of 15.3kgm.
The North American model on the other hand, features the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine instead of the 1.5-liter. The specifications announced during the 2015 Chicago Auto Show on February said that it has a maximum output of 155hp and a maximum torque of 20.5kgm.
This time, Mazda announced the details of the European model of the new MX-5 during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. This model features both a 1.5-liter and a 2.0-liter gasoline engines.
The 1.5-liter engine has a maximum output of 131ps and a maximum torque of 15.3kgm, the same specs as the Japanese model. However, the 2.0 liter engine had its maximum output increased to 160ps while its maximum torque has been reduced to 20.4 kgm; this is when we compare it with the specs of the North American model. Lastly, only the 6-speed MT is available for both engines.
