The 2015 Chicago Auto Show kicked off in the United States on February 12. Nissan Motor Corporation premiered the 370Z (Fairlady Z in Japan) NISMO Roadster Concept, and said that it will likely enter production.
This was revealed by Nissan USA in a press conference at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Nissan said, “The plan to mass produce this concept car has been approved. This model will expand the NISMO lineup.”
The 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept takes advantage of NISMO’s motorsports knowledge. It is equipped with a 3.7L V6 gasoline engine that generates a maximum output of 350hp.
Its suspension and brakes have been exclusively tuned. Moreover, it is outfitted with aero parts to improve its aerodynamic performance. The carbon fiber rear spoiler is made exclusively for the roadster, and is not available for the coupe.
Nissan had already announced that it will cease production of the Japanese Edition Fairlady Z Roadster. However, they will continue its production for the American market, its major market for convertibles. Nissan North America Senior Vice President Fred Diaz said at the press conference, “While the 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept is just a performance study at this point, you can see its potential as a production model.”
