On February 12, Honda Motor Company announced that their all-new Jade will be released on the 13th. Although it has the exterior styling of a station wagon, the new Jade features a spacious interior and the utility of a minivan. Honda has established a couple of hybrid models for the moment and is scheduled to release a gasoline turbo model as well.
Same as the Fit and Vezel, its exclusively tuned hybrid system is based on a 1.5-liter engine combined to a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) with a built-in motor. According to its development team, a turbocharger equipped direct-injected gasoline model will be released sometime this spring.
In fall 2013, Honda launched a series of “downsized turbo engines†consisting of 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 liter engines with the expectation of a 1.5-liter for the Jade. The engine’s maximum output and torque announced at that time were 150kw and 260Nm, respectively.
With its combination of power and fuel-efficiency, Honda is set on expanding their environmentally responsive technology with this all-new Jade. This will be the first turbo model for Honda (excluding mini cars) in 24 years since the Legend was discontinued back in 1991.
