Dubai has taken some of the world’s best-known supercars – including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston-Martin, etc. – and turned them into police cars. It’s been revealed that Lexus’s high performance model has joined the ranks.
This was revealed on February 5 on the Dubai Police official Facebook page. The announcement read, “Dubai Police add Lexus RC F to fleet.”
The Lexus RC F is equipped with a newly developed engine based on the 2UR-GSE direct-injection 5.0-liter V8 that’s used for the IS F. New parts include titan valves, wrought connecting rods, and cylinder heads. Improvements in the exhaust system have significantly increased output. The conversion to an Atkinson cycle offers improvements in gas mileage and environmental efficiency during steady driving conditions.
The 5.0-liter V8 gets 477ps/7100rpm max. output and 54kgmm/4800-5600rpm max. torque. This is 40ps more output than the IS F, which has 430ps, and improves torque by 2.5kgm. The transmission is 8-speed SPDS (Sport Direct Shift) with paddle shift. The European version accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and the highest speed with limiter is 270km/h. The domestic price in Japan is 9,530,000 yen.
Like its other police car models, Lexus RC F’s currently deployed by the Dubai police are white and green. Dubai will be the first Middle Eastern country to hold an exposition to showcase its police cars. The expo is set for 2020 and the location has been decided.
