Mazda CX-3 Prototype

Mazda CX-3 Prototype Debut: Launch in late February with price ranging between 2.3 million and 3 million yen

Mazda has unveiled the prototype of the new CX-3, which was announced at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Japanese edition of the CX-3 will be available only with the SkyActiv-D 1.5-liter diesel engine. For the grade, it will be available in XD, XD Touring, and XD Touring L Package. The price is expected to range between 2.3 million and 3 million yen. It is available in six-speed AT and 6-MT, and FF and 4WD for all grades.

Further, it uses the newly-developed Natural Sound Smoother to improve its own quietness. This dynamic damper integrated to the piston pin is the world’s first technology that reduces the knocking sounds of the piston, which resonates at around 3.5kHz, by damping and dispersing the vibrations of the connecting rod. The Natural Sound Smoother is available as an option for both the XD Touring and XD Touring L Packages.

The overall length, width and height are 4275mm, 1765mm and 1550mm respectively, and the wheelbase is at 2570mm. With an eye height of 1250mm, it gives the driver excellent visibility and a sense of security.

The CX-3 is scheduled to be launched in Japan in late February.
