Toyota Motor Corporation premiered the new Tacoma at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, which kicked off in the United States on January 12, 2015. The new Toyota Tacoma TRD grade also debuted at the same time.
The Tacoma is a medium-sized pickup truck for the North American market. The outgoing Tacoma is the second generation model launched in 2004. For 10 consecutive years, it has been the best-selling medium truck in the United States. It has been 10 years since the second generation Tacoma was launched. Consequently, the 3rd generation Tacoma was revealed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
The new Tacoma will be available in two TRD grades: the TRD Sports and the TRD Off-Road. According to Toyota, this grade will reflect more than 35 years of their off-road racing history.
The TRD Off-Road will use the Multi-Terrain Select system. This system will allow drivers to change the vehicle’s settings to match the present road conditions, from muddy roads to sandy roads.
Furthermore, putting emphasis on off-road driving, the Tacoma TRD will come with Auto LSD, Locking Rear Differential, Hill-Start Assist Control, Clutch Start Cancel (only for the manual Tacoma TRD), and Active Traction Control.
