Mass Production Model of Acura (Honda) NSX (2015 Detroit Auto Show)

2015 Detroit Auto Show: Honda reveals new NSX’s power specs, outputs more than 550hp

Acura, Honda’s luxury car brand, premiered the mass production model of the new NSX at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The power specifications for the said car were also revealed at the auto show.

The new NSX has a lightweight vehicle body in a mid-ship layout mounted with the newly-developed DOHC V6 engine. It is a new-generation super car that uses a highly-efficient and high-performance three-electric motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system.

This Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system is a combination of the DOHC V6 engine and the highly-efficient electric motors mated to a nine-speed dual clutch transmission. The two motors of this hybrid car drives the front wheels to provide all-wheel torque vectoring.

At the moment, the final power specifications of the new NSX have not been published yet. However, at a press conference during the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Chief Engineer Ted Klaus revealed the exact values of the new NSX’s specifications.

Klaus said, “The new NSX outputs more than 550hp.” The new NSX’s performance should be at the same range as supercars like the Ferrari 458 Italia. The 458 Italia is mounted with a 4.5-liter V8 direct injection gasoline engine that generates a maximum output of 570ps. The new NSX, although equipped with a smaller V6 turbo hybrid engine, pursues the same output that the Ferrari 458 Italia generates.
