On January 12, Toyota Motor Corporation debuted their all-new Tacoma at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in the US.
The Tacoma is Toyota’s mid-size pickup truck for the North American market. The current Tacoma is its second-generation model and was launched back in 2004. It has been America’s best-selling compact pickup for 10 consecutive years. Nearly 10 years since the debut of the current model, Toyota has unveiled their remodeled third-generation Tacoma.
The all-new Tacoma was designed at Calty Design Research in California. They decided to beef up the compact pickup with a large hexagonal front grille and switching from 16-inch to 18-inch aluminum wheels.
In addition to its 2.7-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine from the current model, the new Tacoma will also feature an all-new segment-first 3.5-liter Atkinson cycle V6 with Toyota’s D-4S technology.
The transmission is a 6-speed automatic and for the 3.5-liter V6, there is the option of going with a 6-speed manual instead. According to Toyota, the new Tacoma is equipped with more power and improved fuel-efficiency from the current model.
