New Acura NSX mass market model at 2015 Detroit Motor Show

2015 Detroit Motor Show: Honda unveils new NSX with next-gen hybrid system

Honda’s luxury brand Acura unveiled the new mass market NSX at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show, which opened its doors on January 12.

The new NSX is equipped with a newly developed direct gasoline-injection V6 engine located at mid-ship. It uses the next-generation Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system, which combines a motor built-in to the engine as well as two in-wheel motors.

The transmission is a newly developed 9-speed dual clutch. The car is a 4WD hybrid where the V6 powers the back wheels and the in-wheel engines power the front.

The V6 is also supercharged ty two turbochargers. The concept behind the system is to reduce power while cutting down on engine displacement.

A red NSX appeared at the motor show. As a concept car with a number of minor changes, features such as its bumper, front hood, aluminum wheels and door mirrors were designed for improved aerodynamics. It is 80mm longer and 25mm wider than the 2013 concept car with its cab moved slightly forward.

The new NSX is 4470mm long, 1940mm wide and 1215mm tall with a 2630mm wheelbase. The tires are Continental’s ContiSportContact tires, with 245/35ZR19 at the front and 295/30ZR20 at the rear.
