The 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon, a festival for vehicle tuning, was held in January 9. Masahiro Moro, the senior executive officer at Mazda’s press conference, revealed that they will release the new Roadster around June 2015.
At the presentation, Moro said, “25 years had passed since the first generation was released, and it is still loved by enthusiastic fans worldwide. The Roadster is our brand icon and it symbolizes Mazda’s car production. We are planning to release the new Roadster around June in Japan.”
Moro added, “We are also considering accepting pre-orders since we have received many requests to put this up for early reservation.”
Mazda announced that they will hold the Roadster Thanksgiving Day in Japan 2nd, a fan interaction event prior to the product launch, with February until March as their first attempt at the event. Fans will be able to touch the Roadster before its release and we will be able to feel what the Mazda brand really is through the interaction with the development members. They have adopted the concept that ‘fans have the leading role’ from the time of the Roaster’s simultaneous unveiling events around the world last September 2014.
