2015 Tokyo Auto Salon: Daihatsu Copen Robe S “Building the accuracy of the steering”

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. has put on exhibit the Copen Robe S, which was just released last 24th of December, at the center of its booth as the luxury grade of its kei open sports car, Copen. Chief Engineer Osamu Fujishita revealed at the press briefing on January 9th that “We have particularly built the part of the steering’s accuracy.”

Chief Engineer Fujishita showcased the details of the development of the Robe S by saying, “Similar to the ultimate edition of the first generation Copen, we prepared it with BBS wheels as an option as we wanted it to be built with well renowned industrial design products that have long histories such as MOMO, Recaro, and Bilstein. We manufactured it as we wanted to offer the excellence of such things even though it is a little cheaper.”

Moreover, he said “Especially in the aspect of maneuverability, when the steering wheel was being operated, we were able to focus on its touch quality and its function by combining the steering accuracy and the tightening the quality of the riding comfort. We manufactured it by focusing in the distinct incorporation of the MOMO’s easy to drive steering, the support section based on the ergonomic design of the Recaro seats and the excellent maneuverability of various cars brought about by Bilstein; in particular the production of the parts which pertain to the steering’s accuracy.”
