Mitsubishi unveils recreated Model A based on Outlander PHEV

Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) unveiled its recreated Model A at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The Mitsubishi Model A, produced a century ago in 1917, was Mitsubishi’s first-ever passenger car assembled in Japan. MMNA announced this project in April 2017 to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of Mitsubishi Motors. Through collaboration with West Coast Customs, an automotive restyling shop in California, MMNA recreated the Model A based on the body and powertrain of the Outlander PHEV. It has been appropriately labeled the “Re-Model A.”

The project was completed in half a year and the final product was introduced at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show after being featured on TV in the U.S. in early November.

According to MMNA, the Re-Model A maintains the beauty of the original Model A while featuring the latest technology such as Super All-Wheel Control, plug-in recharge, forward collision mitigation and smartphone connectivity.
