Honda delivers Clarity Fuel Cell to first customers in the U.S.

On December 19, American Honda delivered its all-new Clarity Fuel Cell to its first customers the U.S.

The Clarity Fuel Cell was launched back in October 2015 at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. It was introduced as a highly practical fuel cell vehicle that seats up to five passengers.

It is the world’s first mass-produced fuel cell vehicle to store a fuel cell stack and drive system under the front hood. As a result, it offers plenty of space in the interior.

Initially, the Clarity Fuel Cell will be available at dealerships in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas in California, U.S.A. Honda presented the keys for the Clarity Fuel Cell to its first customers in the U.S. at its dealership in Southern California.

The lease price is $369 US (approx. 40,000 yen) per month for a three-year term. Moreover, this lease price includes up to $15,000 (approx. 1.7 million yen) of hydrogen fuel.

“The Honda Clarity Fuel Cell has arrived as the next big leap forward in electric drive mobility, with next-generation style, fun-to-drive performance and customer comfort,” said Steve Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
