In late November, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation notified the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of a recall for its RVR. This time, the recall has extended to the Chinese market as well.
The recall pertains to an issue with the gas spring on the tailgate. Due to inadequate anti-corrosion treatment to the outer tube of the gas spring, there are concerns that the outer tube may corrode.
The corrosion would spread over time, resulting in a crack in the outer tube. This may lead to an accident from a bursting of the outer tube when the tailgate is opened.
This recall applies to 17,547 units of the 2011-2012 RVR and 3,504 units of the 2011-2012 Pajero.
Mitsubishi will be contacting the owners of these vehicles and the gas springs will be replaced at its dealerships.
