Mitsubishi has expanded its early-November Japanese recall of the RVR to the United States.
The recall is due to a defect in the front windshield wiper motor. Due to a problem with the waterproofing on the front deck, there’s a risk that water could seep into the inside of the motor between the front deck garnish and the windshield glass.
This could cause corrosion in the motor. As a worst case scenario, this could cause the wiper motor to cease functioning.
Mitsubishi Motors North America has expanded the recall to the United States, issuing a recall with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It applies to 94,534 2011-2015 RVR models.
Mitsubishi North American is contacting owners of the effected vehicles. Wiper motors are being exchanged at dealerships.
