A recall has been issued in the US for Subaru US flagship models the Outback (Legacy Outback in Japan) and Legacy (Legacy B4 in Japan). The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that Subaru Of America had issued the recall and released its details.
According to the NHTSA, the recall is due to a defect with the knee guards. Due to some of the knee guards being improperly attached to the steering beam, there is a risk that they won’t adequately protect the passenger in the event of an accident.
The recall applies to 2017 models that were built in late September, 2016, and sold in the United States.
Subaru Of America is contacting the owners of recalled vehicles and inspections and steering beam replacements are being carried out at dealerships.
