A recall has been issued in the United States for the Nissan Versa. The Versa is Nissan’s entry car for the US market.
The recall is due to a defect in its airbags. According to the US National High Traffic Safety Administration, there is a risk that when the side curtain airbag deploys, the airbag’s fabric’s stitching could tear, which could affect the functioning of the airbag. This goes against US safety standards.
The recall applies to a total of 1,754 2017 Versa models that were built in August, 2016, that were sold in the United States.
Nissan North America is notifying customers who own the affected vehicles. Left and right side curtain airbags are being replaced at dealerships.
