Honda recalls new Civic in US over parking brake defect

On October 13, American Honda issued a recall for 350,000 new Civics over a potential defect in the parking brake. According to American Honda, there is a problem with the electric parking brake that could cause it to not work after the engine key is turned off.

The recall applies to a portion of the Civics sold in the United States in 2016. It applies to a total of 350,083 cars including 4-door sedans and 2-door coupes.

American Honda is contacting owners of effected vehicles. It plans to replace the electric parking brakes software at dealerships.

The recall applies to both 2.0L engine and 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine models.
