The recent recall announced by Toyota Motor Corporation for its all-new Prius has been extended to the US market.
This recall pertains to an issue with its parking brake. Due to improper attachment of the parking brake cable, there are concerns that the parking brake may not operate as the cable can disengage from the lever as a result of vibrations to the vehicle.
In Japan, the recall applies to a total of 212,490 units of the Toyota Prius assembled between October 26, 2015 and October 3, 2016.
On October 12, Toyota Motor Sales, USA stated it will conduct a recall for the US market due to the same issue. In the US, the recall applies to a total of 92,000 units of the 2016 and 2017 Prius models.
Toyota Motor Sales, USA will be contacting the owners of these vehicles. Repairs will be conducted at its dealerships by adding clips on top of the brake cable dust boots.
