Mazda Motor Corporation has conducted a recall for its Mazda3 (the Axela, in Japan) for the US market.
This was announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US, which received notification of this recall from Mazda North American Operations.
This recall pertains to an issue with its fuel tank. According to the NHTSA, there are concerns over a possible fuel leakage as the fuel tank on these affected vehicles may have been improperly handled during assembly, and the welded attachment of the Inlet Check Valve (ICV) may fail as a result.
The recall applies to 2014-2016 models of Mazda3. A total of 17,484 vehicles sold in the US will be recalled.
Mazda North American Operations will be contacting the owners of these vehicles. The affected fuel tanks will be replaced at its dealerships after inspection.
