On January 14, Toyota Motor Europe released its European hybrid car sales figures for 2015. Total sales were 209,000 units, which represents a 17% year-over-year increase and marks the 5th year of growth.
The Toyota brand saw a 15.5% increase at 168,000 units. The Lexus brand saw a significant increase of 24% at 41,000 units sold.
In the Toyota brand, the flagship Auris hybrid model sold 78,500 units. This is a favorable increase of 12% over the previous year. A major factor in the favorable sales was the Auris Touring Sports wagon hybrid model, which isn’t sold in Japan.
The Yaris hybrid sold 72,252 units, a major increase of 23.4%. The Yaris is sold in Japan as the Vitz but there is no hybrid version in Japan.
The biggest seller for the Lexus brand was the NX hybrid NX300h, which sold 17,278 units. Sales for the CT200h dropped 1% at 10,235. The IS hybrid IS300h also dropped 15% from last year at 7,745 units.
