Toyota Mirai's demo run at WRC Rally Germany

WRC: Toyota conducts demo run of Mirai FCV in Germany

On August 21, Toyota Motor Corporation conducted a demo run of their Mirai fuel-cell vehicle at Rally Germany, round 9 of the WRC (World Rally Championship). The Mirai was tested through the 1,227km asphalt track ahead of the WRC event.

Automotive critic and Mirai owner, Mitsuhiro Kunisawa was in charge of the cockpit for this demo run.

For this test drive, Toyota underwent a few changes on the Mirai, which included the installation of enhanced brake pads, racing tires, roll cage and bucket seats. No adjustments were made to its fuel cell engine.

The Mirai’s chief engineer, Yoshikazu Tanaka said, “My dream is for Toyota’s FCV to compete at the WRC one day. We’ll be highly ambitious and continue to develop this technology.”
