Another fatality results from explosion of defective Takata airbag

On January 22, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US reported yet another fatality as a result of an explosion to the well-publicized Takata airbag.

According to the NHTSA, this incident occurred in December 2015 in South Carolina, US. The defective airbag was equipped on a 2006 Ford Ranger pickup truck

As a result of this accident, Ford Motors has added around 390,000 units of 2004 to 2006 Ford Ranger models to its list of recalls.

The NHTSA states, “This is the ninth fatality in the US due to an explosion of the Takata airbag and the 10th in the world.”
