On October 10, Acura announced that it achieved record-high sales of new vehicles for the Chinese market during January-September 2017.
During the first nine months of 2017, Acura sold 10,534 units, a significant climb of nearly triple the figure recorded in the previous year. This success was led by its top-selling CDX, an all-new compact SUV that recorded sales of 9,781 units. Based on the Honda Vezel, the CDX is an exclusive model for the Chinese market that features an exterior and cabin developed for the Acura brand.
Meanwhile, sales of the RDX midsize SUV continued to decline, down 47% year on year, to 471 units. The MDX full-size SUV also fell from the previous year, sinking 59.2% to 223 units.
In addition, sales of the TLX sport sedan plummeted 90.6% year on year, to 57 units, while the all-new NSX sold two units during the first nine months.
In 2016, Acura sold 8,143 new vehicles in China, which was a 93.7% improvement from the year before.
