On September 25, Toyota Motor Corporation announced it will commence production of the all-new Yaris from late 2018 in Brazil.
For this initiative, Toyota has invested nearly 1 billion Real (approx. 3.6 million yen) in its Sorocaba plant in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The Sorocaba plant, which began operations in 2012, expanded its annual production capacity to 106,000 units in January 2015. Currently, the plant is undergoing production of the hatchback and sedan models of the Etios, Toyota’s compact car for emerging markets.
The Etios is exported to Latin American countries such as Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Costa Rica and Honduras.
Moreover, along with production of the all-new Yaris, the Sorocaba plant will be employing 300 new workers.
