Suzuki global production up 5.0% in April

On May 30, Suzuki published figures for its April production, Japan sales and imports from Japan. Total production was up 5.0% from the previous year at 263,044 units, setting a new record for April and marking the 4th straight month of year-on-year growth.

Production in Japan for both domestic sales and exports was up 17.6% at 81,064 units, marking the 4th month of growth. Overseas production in countries like India was up 0.3% at 181,980 units, setting a new record for April and marking the 4th month of growth.

Domestic Japan sales were up 6.4% at 51,323 units, marking the 6th month of growth. Growth in sales of non-kei cars like the new Swift and Solio led to growth of 8.0%. The total was 9,079 units, which set a new record for April and marks the 20th month of growth. Kei car models like the new Wagon R and Spacia also saw high sales, contributing to the month’s 6.1% growth. Total sales were 42,224 units and marked the 5th month of growth.

Exports to regions like Europe were up 112.7% at 20,015 units, marking the 6th consecutive month of growth.
