Suzuki records highest global production figures for February

On March 29, Suzuki Motor Corporation announced its results of production, domestic sales and exports for February 2017. According to these results, global production climbed 23.1% year on year, to 283,457 units, resulting in a record-high for the month of February as well as a surplus for the second straight month.

Japanese domestic production grew for the second month in a row, soaring 53.5% yoy, to 96,896 units, as production increased for both domestic and overseas markets. Moreover, due to increases in India and Pakistan, overseas production rose 11.6% yoy, to 186,561 units, resulting in a record-high for the month of February and a surplus for the second straight month.

Japanese domestic sales increased for the fourth consecutive month, rising 10.3% yoy, to 62,883 units. As a result of higher sales of the all-new Swift, sales of registrations grew 9.4% yoy, to 9,599 units, which was also a record for the month of February and an increase for the 18th month in a row. Sales of mini cars climbed 10.5% yoy, to 53,284 units, resulting in a third consecutive month of increase, due to commencement of sales of the all-new Wagon R and higher sales of the Spacia.

Exports grew for the fourth straight month, skyrocketing 101.5% yoy, to 17,104 units, as a result of increased shipments to the European market.
