On March 28, Mazda announced that its CX-3 compact crossover SUV had won the 2016 Thailand Car of the Year award, sponsored by the Thai Automotive Journalists Association.
The award considers cars built and sold in Thailand from October 1, 2015, to September 30, 2016. Models are given points by over 40 journalists and narrowed down to 10 finalists. Of the finalists, the CX-3 was chosen for this year’s award.
The CX-3 is Mazda’s 5th next-generation model to make full utilization of its Skyactiv technology and “kodo” design theme. It combines excellent driving performance, size and packaging that makes it easy to use, and a design that’s both luxurious and stylish. Production of the CX-3 began in October, 2015, at Mazda’s local Auto Alliance (Thailand) facility and set a record for annual sales in Thailand in 2016 at 4,787 units.
