Concept Car Design of the Year: Renault Trezor

On March 9 at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show, Renault announced that the Trezor had won the 2016 Concept Car Design of the Year award.

The Trezor is a concept model that shows the future direction of Renault design. The hood and roof open together, suggesting a futuristic 2-seat GT sports model. The one-piece clamshell roof lifts up like a jewel case to offer access to the interior.

It has an EV powertrain. The motor, which is based on the Formula E EV racing machine’s, puts out 350hp with 38.7kgm of torque. The body weight is 1,600kg and it can go from 0 to 100km/h in 4 seconds.

The Concept Car Design of the Year is an award where 20 of the world’s top designers select the year’s best concept car. The Trezor received the award for things such as its interior’s dramatic proportions and active use of new materials, and the overall integration of the exterior and interior.
