Honda ceases production of current Civic Type R

It has come to light that Honda will discontinue production of the current Civic Type R.

The current Civic Type R model has a direct injection 2.0L 4-cylidner VTEC turbo gasoline engine that puts out 310ps/6500rpm with 40.8kgm/2500rpm maximum torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 270km/h.

In May, 2014, it ran a time attack at the Nürburgring North Course, setting a new record for a mass market FF at 7:50:63. It also made a unique name for itself in the Japanese market for its limited release of only 750.

Now, Honda is ceasing production of the current Civic Type R at its Swindon plant in the UK. It will close this chapter of its history with a final model, the Black Edition, which will be produced in a limited run of 100.
