On 17 January, Fuji Heavy Industries announced their production and retail plans for 2017. Production will see an 8% increase to 1,110,000 units while sales figures are also planned to rise by 8& to 1,093,000 units. For the past 5 years, the company has consistently set records in terms of both sales and production, and they are shooting to make that 6 years running by the end of this year.
In terms of production, domestic Japanese production will slightly fall (1%) to 721,000 as the company attempts to stimulate foreign production, hoping to hit the 4th consecutive year of growing foreign production at 380,000 (31%).
As for sales, the company plans to surpass last years sales (by 8%) at 169,000, a figure that the companyâ€™s new Impreza should contribute to. Due to good reception in the US and Canada, the company is planning to see a 7% increase in sales at 921,000 units, securing a 6th year of consistently rising sales for the company.
