Toyota projects 1% rise in global sales to 10.2 million units for 2017

On December 15, Toyota Motor Corporation announced the Group’s sales plan, including those for Daihatsu and Hino Motors, for the 2017 calendar year. According to this plan, global sales have been set at 10,202,000 units, up 1% from previous year’s result.

Global sales for the Toyota brand are forecasted at 9.16 million units (up 1% year on year), consisting of 1.6 million units (up 2%) in domestic sales and 7.67 million units (up 1%) in overseas sales. Daihatsu models are expected to record 770,000 units in global sales with domestic sales remaining flat at 570,000 units and overseas sales up 5% to 200,000 units. As for Hino Motors, global sales are expected to increase by 1% to 172,000 units with domestic sales constant at 64,000 units and overseas sales up 1% to 109,000 units.

Moreover, according to the 2017 plan, the Group forecasts global production to increase by 1% to 10,366,000 units.

Global production for the Toyota brand is projected to remain flat at 8.98 million units, comprising 3.21 million units (up 2% yoy) domestically and 5.77 million units (down 1%) overseas. Daihatsu’s global production is expected to increase by 12% to 1.2 million units with increases in both domestic and overseas production to 810,000 units (up 11%) and 390,000 units (up 15%), respectively. As for Hino Motors, global production is projected to increase by 4% to 186,000 units, consisting of a 2% increase in domestic production to 149,000 units and a 16% increase in overseas production to 37,000 units.
