On December 13, Suzuki Motor Corporation announced that its Alto mini car has become the first Suzuki-exclusive model to reach the five million unit mark in domestic sales.
The Alto was released back in May 1979 for just 470,000 yen. It garnered the attention of its female customers with ease-of-driving and economical features, and paved the way for more and more purchase of second cars. Ever since, the Alto has been adored by a wide range of consumers over the last 37 years, and has come to represent Japanese mini cars.
To commemorate its achievement of five million units in domestic sales, Suzuki has established exclusive colors for both the L and S grades: French Mint Pearl Metallic, Coffret Pink Pearl Metallic and Phone Beige Metallic. These commemorative colors will be released on December 20 priced from 894,240 yen to 1,102,680 yen.
