On October 28, Mitsubishi reported its global new car sales figures for April to September, 2016. Total sales were 436,000 units, which is 16% down from the previous year’s 521,000.
Japanese domestic sales were 29,000 units, which is down significantly 37% from last year’s 46,000 units. The drop in sales was largely due to the company’s emission fraud scandal.
Overseas, the Asian region saw sales of 140,000 units. This is down 8% from the previous year’s 152,000 units. European sales were 90,000 units, which is down 13% from last year’s 104,000 units.
On the other hand, North American sales were flat at 69,999 units. Of these US sales were also flat at 49,000 units. Sales were bullish with SUV sales favorable.
Mitsubishi’s 2015 global sales were 1,048000 units, which was 3.9% down from the previous year.
