On October 17, US EV maker Tesla Motors announced that it was considering establishing a solar battery production plant collaboratively with Panasonic.
The plant will be located in Buffalo, New York. The plan is for it to start producing solar batteries in 2017.
In August, 2016, Tesla Motors announced that it had purchased Solar City. It’s likely that it will use Solar City’s technology for the production of solar batteries.
The announcement is part of Tesla Motors and Panasonic strengthening their relationship. This partnership currently includes collaborative production of EVs and batteries at the new Gigafactory plant in the US state of Nevada.
Tesla Motors chief technical officer JB Straubel says, “We’re excited to expand our partnership with Panasonic.”
