Toyota Motor Corporation announced its results of production, domestic sales and exports for August 2016. According to these results, global production (including Daihatsu and Hino) grew 14.9% from the previous year to 829,900 units, resulting in a surplus for the fourth consecutive month.
Domestic production climbed for the fourth month in a row, rising 14.4% yoy to 303,500 units. Production overseas also grew, up 15.1% to 526,400 units, resulting in a surplus for the first time in two months and record-high numbers for the month of August.
Domestic sales increased for the fifth straight month, up 12.6% yoy to 157,100 units. Toyotaâ€™s market share (including mini cars) went up 4.0 percentage points to 46.6%.
Exports grew for the second month in a row, rising 2.1% to 134,400 units.
Moreover, Toyotaâ€™s global production for 2016 (January to August) grew 1.3% to 6,686,100 units.
