Honda Motor Company announced its results of automobile production, sales and exports for August 2016. According to these results, global production grew 12.6% from the previous year to 403,487 units, resulting in its first surplus in two months and record-high figures for the month of August.
Domestic production increased for the fourth consecutive month, rising 13.8% yoy to 52,215 units. Production overseas grew for the first time in two months, rising 12.4% to 351,272 units, resulting in record-high production for the month of August in the US and Chinese markets.
Domestic sales were down 9.1% yoy to 42,814 units, as it suffered a deficit for the third month in a row. While mini cars climbed for the first time in three months, up 0.8% to 20,423 units, registrations fell for the third straight month, dropping 16.6% to 22,391 units.
With the start of production for the Fit for deliveries to the US and Europe, exports grew for the 14th month in a row, up significantly by 101.1% yoy to 10,136 units.
