Toshiba announced that the 3.5kW pure hydrogen fuel cell system it delivered to Toyota has begun operation.
The world’s first 3.5kW commercial-use system, it is being used as an experiment to demonstrate optimal energy use at the energy superintendent’s office on the premises of Toyota’s headquarters in Toyoda, Aichi Prefecture.
The system is the first 3.5kW commercial use system and is used for a demonstration experiment for optimum energy operation for the energy management office at the premises of the Toyota headquarters in Toyoda, Aichi Prefecture.
The system generates fuel straight from hydrogen and can generate electricity for a short period of time with zero CO2 emissions. The electrical power it produces and the hot water that is created in the process is being used by the energy management office for things such as lighting and air-conditioning.
Experiments are also being carried out for establishing an efficient energy use method that combines solar power and battery power.
The hydrogen fuel cell unit was developed and commercialized to be used for Yamaguchi Liquid Hydrogen, Chofukusan and Iwatani Corporation through the Yamaguchi Industrial Strategy R&D Initiative, which was launched in 2014.
