On September 1, Hondaâ€™s Indian corporation Honda Cars India Limited announced its sales results for August 2016 in India.
According to these results, overall sales fell 11% from the previous year, to 13,941 units (excluding exports), resulting in a deficit for the 10th consecutive month.
The 13,941 units of total sales consisted of 4,255 units of the City compact sedan, its top-selling model for the 11th month in a row. This was followed by the Fit and Amaze with 3,818 units and 2,488 units, respectively. The remainder consisted of the Brio with 784 units, the Mobilio with 290 units and the CR-V with 77 units.
Moreover, the all-new BR-V sport utility vehicle, which was introduced to the Indian market this April, recorded 2,229 units. Exports from India grew for the first time in two months, climbing 13.5% yoy, to 664 units.
In fiscal 2015, Hondaâ€™s sales for the Indian market increased 2% yoy, to 192,059 units, as it achieved record sales for the third year in a row.
