The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that a recall has been conducted for three Mitsubishi models in the US.
This recall pertains to a defective CVT (continuously variable transmission) on the Outlander Sport (the RVR, in Japan), Outlander and Lancer (the Galant Fortis, in Japan). According to the NHTSA, there are concerns that these vehicles may slow down during acceleration under normal conditions.
The recall applies to a total of 82,436 vehicles sold in the US consisting of 2015-2016 models of the Outlander Sport, and 2016 models of the Outlander and Galant Fortis.
Mitsubishi Motors North America will be contacting the owners of these vehicles. The software for the CVT’s control unit will be updated at its dealerships in the US.
