Maruti Suzuki, subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corp. and purveyor of the largest share of the Indian passenger vehicle market, announced that in mid-July the company had reached their one hundred thousandth sale for the company’s midsize sedan, the Ciaz.
Maruti Suzuki first presented the Ciaz to the public as a concept car during the 2014 Delhi Motor Show if February. The vehicle was first premiered under the name of Authentics at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2013, By the time of the Delhi Motor Show ’14, the company had changed the sedan’s name to the Ciaz and debuted the company to the Indian public.
Maruti Suzuki released the vehicle for sale in October 2014 having seen slight alterations and changes to the bumpers and headlights compared with its concept car counterpart and the car was marketed in India as a midsize premium sedan.
The Ciaz comes in both gasoline and diesel models. The gasoline engine is the K14 model, equipped with a VVT, and the Indian model gets 20.73km to the liter. The diesel engine model is known as the DDiS200, getting 26.21km per liter, and excellent figure in its class.
The Ciaz recently reached its one hundred thousandth car sold in India after a year and ten months since its release. R. S. Kalsi, executive director of Maruti Suzuki, commented that “The Ciaz is the highest selling car in the A3+ segment. We are proud to say that the Ciaz has a firm hold on 40% of the premium sedan market.”
