Toyota’s domestic sales climb for forth month in a row; June results

Toyota Motor Corporation announced its results of production, domestic sales and exports for June 2016. According to these results, global production grew 2.3% year on year, to 815,061 units, resulting in a surplus for the second straight month.

Domestic production also increased for the second month in a row, rising 4.2% to 297,675 units. Due to increases in Latin America, Asia and Africa, overseas production climbed 1.3% to 517,386 units, resulting in a surplus for the fifth consecutive month and a record high for the month of June.

Domestic sales went up for the forth month in a row, up 7.9% to 142,889 units. Sales for the Lexus brand grew 10.2% to 4,556 units. Sales of mini cars climbed 22.0% to 2,556 units. Toyota’s market share (excluding mini cars) went up 2.1 percentage points to 48.7%.

Due to declines in North America, the Middle East and Africa, exports fell 1.1% to 154,762 units, as it recorded a deficit for the third month in a row.
